The Future of Cities

weiter_gedacht_

Cities are undeniably the living spaces of tomorrow. Occupying only two per cent of the world’s surface, cities already house around half of the global population—and by 2050, this number is projected to surpass two-thirds.

This worldwide trend raises a multitude of questions: How will we want to live in the future? What kind of homes and buildings will we need? How will we move around and power our lives? How will we feed ourselves? How will we organize our cities, and who will have a stake in them?

The dynamic interplay of growth, societal visions, and practical urban development continuously calls for innovations that shape the city of the future and meet diverse needs.

With the exhibition The Future of Cities, we invited you to delve into this topic from both Austrian and international perspectives.

At its heart was the new special exhibition space "urban innovations", connected with the surrounding permanent exhibitions:
  • „urban life"
  • „urban mobility"
  • „urban energy" and
  • the external site „urban power",
all contributing fresh ideas for the future of urban spaces.
