For a long time, this collection area was – traditionally – divided into road transport, rail transport, shipping and aerospace. Based on a comprehensive mobility concept, the new collection groups of spaces and infrastructure, mobility cultures, traffic flows and control systems as well as inclusions and exclusions of mobility were developed. Behind that is the understanding of mobility as a phenomenon across different modes of transport and, from a museological point of view, the answer to the question of how to collect and document phenomena such as global hubs and telematics, the establishment and crossing of boundaries, social inclusions and exclusions through technology as well as sustainable and alternative mobilities.
