Wiener Netze has been supporting the Technical Museum Vienna since 2017. We have a common passion for technology and for communicating this passion. We aim to fascinate young people in particular – especially girls – in technology and science. Why? Because technophiles, whether girls or boys, are the experts of the future and the key to managing the energy transition.
The collaboration between both organisations – Wiener Netze, as the city’s supplier of power, gas and district heating, and the Technical Museum Vienna, as an educational institution and centre of knowledge – provide visitors with fascinating insights into the world of technology – yesterday, today and tomorrow.
The interactive exhibition area dedicated to the power grid explains the backbone of power supply and new technologies, such as smart meters and intelligent substations. Discover how grids are the key to the energy transition by visiting the current exhibition on exactly this issue.
One of the annual highlights is the Wiener Netze Family Party at the Technical Museum Vienna: We are also planning a great day out for the entire family in 2024. Entry is free and Mona Netz will be on hand to ensure plenty of games, fun and knowledge. On 8 March, International Women’s Day, visitors can enjoy a free special tour focusing on women patent holders.

Wiener Netze is Austria’s largest integrated grid operator – supplying power, gas, district heating and telecommunications wherever they are needed. Annual investments in maintenance and grid expansion amount to over 300 million euros. More than two million customers in Vienna and parts of Lower Austria and Burgenland benefit from outstanding security of supply.
