Material Worlds: guided educator tour

Guided Educator Tour
We live in a time of material abundance on a scale unprecedented in human history. This applies not only to the sheer volume of materials we extract, process, combine, use and dispose of. The digital age may make the world seem increasingly immaterial, yet even “the cloud” has a physical basis. Materials continue to play a central role in economic, political and military conflicts. Their sourcing, processing, use and disposal have major impacts on both the environment and society. Austria is also part of global production and trade networks, buying and selling on international markets. In the face of the climate crisis, we must rethink our relationship with technology and materials, and take into account reuse and disposal right from the production stage.

The Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Museum of Science and Technology) sees itself as a place of learning and discourse that bridges the realms of science, education, economy and society. We present the educational programmes developed specifically for school groups in connection with the exhibition, highlight the interactive exhibits in particular, and are happy to assist with any organisational questions you may have when planning your visit.
