At the bustling Buch Wien 2024, numerous students visited booth E06. With a single symbolic step, they crossed over from Earth to Mars.
This was the first appearance of the EXPEDITION MARS outside the museum. While a full workshop could not be implemented in this context, visitors to Mars had the opportunity to complete various tasks, try on props, or design their own Personal Preference Kitthinking about what they would bring on a mission to Mars, just like "real" astronauts! (A Personal Preference Kit is a container where personal belongings are stored during a space mission.)This cooperative role-playing experience gives children and teenagers a glimpse into the operations of a Mars mission. With detailed backdrops and the appropriate equipment, an almost realistic scenario is created where participants take on various rolesfrom Flight Director on Earth to rover operator on Mars.
Visitors to the book fair were filled with enthusiasm and anticipation for the workshops, which will be available at the Technisches Museum Wien starting in fall 2025.
