10 May 2023 – Mission Control had a lift-off!
Today’s children and adolescents will be very directly affected by space science when they grow up. As part of theThis is (not) Rocket Science! project, they become involved as citizen scientists and pose research questions concerning their own future.
On Wednesday, 10 May, Mission Control got together for the first time: 24 pupils aged 13–18 years met at the Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Museum of Science and Technology)!
Following an icebreaker session, the four major subject areas of This is (not) Rocket Science! were introduced. In addition, the young participants gathered some thoughts on what is important to them as members of Mission Control and scheduled the next meetings. They stayed well after the museum’s closing time, rounding off the evening with pizza and a movie about the possibilities of human survival on Mars.
The Members of Mission Control have contributed to an intense and successful start. All participants are looking forward to the next meeting and to working together, to spending time together, to questions, to fun facts, to discovering "new unknown living environments"!
